The company manages 23 418 hectares of land. Of that, 11 648 hectares is area under cane. Ubombo Sugar sources 55% of its sugar cane from independent out-grower farmers in Eswatini.
Small scale growers supply about 28% of cane to the Ubombo mill under the LUSIP project. Large scale growers supply 25% and 1.9% comes from medium scale growers. This is a representation of the significant support to the livelihoods of small, rural farmers and surrounding communities.
Ubombo produces approximately 260 000 tons of sugar annually. It is one of three sugar producers in the country whose combined total sugar output of approximately 670 000 tons is marketed and distributed by the Eswatini Sugar Association (ESA), with sales to the SACU market, preferential markets in the EU and USA, as well as regional markets (Africa).
Ubombo satisfies all of its own electricity needs and was the first independent power producer in Eswatini, and the ABF Sugar Division, to supply power using bio-renewable resources to the national grid on a commercial basis On average, the company produces 165 Giga Watt Hours (GWH) of electricity annually, of which 60 GWH is supplied to the Eswatini Electricity Company.
